While President Obama is correct in calling for a world wide reduction in nuclear weapons but is wrong in demonizing some nations while backing the state terrorism of “friendly nations.”
It would be better to reduce our own overwhelming expenditures in weapons production and war mongering. We as a Nation and each one of us as individuals can improve the world by improving ourselves and bringing more loving kindness to all.
We win friends by generosity not by bombs.
I remember walking in London and seeing a huge sign which said, “Here lived that great American patriot, Benedict Arnold.” The point is that many more people in the world think that Israel is a rogue terrorist nation than think Iran, North Korea and so on are.
Many more people know that Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and US occupied Afghanistan, are extremist Muslim countries than the only semi-democratic country in the Middle East, Iran. It is time for the USA to be an honest country, understanding that the cold war in over, we are in an extreme economic downturn and we need to look after our own interests rather than propping us dictatorships or apartheid nations.
In the words of Gandhi, “We should be the change we wish to see.” Let’s be a shinning beacon on the hill by supporting world peace, economic and educational opportunities for all human beings and use our great technology to make a better world.
