It is predicted that by the year 2025 robots will be able to toss hamburgers and by 2050 they will be able to performs most jobs that human beings do much more efficiently and way cheaper.

Say that the above predictions (from the futurist magazine) are optimistic and in fact it will take until 2050 before most menial jobs are done by robots and by the year 2100 robots will do 99.99% of jobs we now do. OK by 2200 – or even by 2300  – the year does not matter – what matters is the sure fact that if humanity survives and technology improves eventually and soon by historical standards most if not all jobs will be done by robots.

Then what?

How can capitalism survive when robots can do all work much easier and cheaper than we can?

At this time I have no solution – only a question and the prediction that we will only think about this issue when it is a crisis.

Imagine if a country tries not to use robots – how can it compete with another which does?’

Imagine if people try to destroy the robots – robot soldiers can destroy the rest of us neo-ludites.

No robots are coming.  Either we use them wisely from a loving kindness spiritual point of view or we are doomed to destruction.
