Save the gulf oil jobs – save the gulf
Some Republican law makers are complaining that President Obama is destroying the gulf oil drilling jobs by having a six month moratorium on deep drilling in the gulf of Mexico.
I have a simple suggestion on how to save those jobs while protecting the environment.
In Norway you cannot take out any oil from a well until you have the relief well in place. Let’s do the same here. Give the oil companies a reasonable time (I am not a petroleum engineer but somewhere between three to six months sounds a good time period) to drill relief wells for every existing wells in the gulf.
This way the oil workers could be happy as well as the environmentalists.
Even so fpr the future it would be much cheaper and safer to stop all deep sea drilling and employ the workers in building roads, levies and so on…
