Joseph and the lean years

I’m watching a right wing economist talking about reducing taxes to reduce the defecits.

You stupid idiot  – been there, done that – and that’s why we are in such a mess.

Giving more money to the rich only gives more money to the rich.

We need to invest in our future in these lean years. We need government jobs (not in defense but in the defense of our crumbling infrastucture). We need to spend money in education and not in buying cheap foreign imports produced by slave or near slave labor.

We need manufacturing jobs not financial leaches stealing our monies in wall street rigged casino. They take our money and give themselves billions in bonuses. They are leaches on the society and need be controlled. We need good regulation with life without parole (I would say immediate death penalty if I was not against capital punishment in principle)  for the Wall Street thieves.

Then when we get to the fat years we can cut the deficit by cutting our defense budget by ten percent a year for the next ten years or so (about eight percent in total – remember it’s compound interest in reverse). We could lower our defense wastage (we don’t need a bloody empire) by eighty percent and yet have a defense budget higher than the sum of the next four highest spending nations.
