The debutant was outraged. She slapped Shaw and said, “What do think I am?”

So Shaw walked away and approached the same young lady about half an hour later and said, “Will you sleep with me if I gave you a hundred thousand quid?” (about $2,500,000 in today’s money.)

The debutant knew that the famous author could easily afford it. So she giggles and replied, “Of course Mr. Sahaw.”

Immediately Bernard Shaw asked again, “Will you sleep with me for a fiver?”

She slapped him a second and said, “What do think I am?”

Shaw simply replied, “We’ve already established what you are. We’re only haggling about the price!”

And unfortunately that’s true of ninety nine point nine nine percent of politicians. They are bloody whores the whole load of them. There may be a slight price difference between them that’s all.

As usual I write god for nonsense and God for sense. I was searching the web for some information on the brain for a seminar I’m giving next week and came to a site which claimed scientific proof for god. Since the greatest minds in the history of humanity have not come up with a proof of the existence of God I was extremely curious.

The post had this gem:

Fair enough, theists believe that “god is self-existing and not created,” so there is absolutely no gain or proof there.

Later on there was this second gem:

A third scientific proof that the atheist is wrong is seen in the second law of thermodynamics. In any closed system, things tend to become disordered. If an automobile is driven for years and years without repair, for example, it will become so disordered that it would not run any more. Getting old is simple conformity to the second law of thermodynamics. In space, things also get old. Astronomers refer to the aging process as heat death. If the cosmos is “everything that ever was or is or ever will be,” as Dr. Carl Sagan was so fond of saying, nothing could be added to it to improve its order or repair it. Even a universe that expands and collapses and expands again forever would die because it would lose light and heat each time it expanded and rebounded.

The atheist’s assertion that matter/energy is eternal is scientifically wrong. The biblical assertion that there was a beginning is scientifically correct.

Actually the person who wrote this was not a scientist since in an oscillating universe the second law of thermodynamic reverses in the shrinking phase and light and heat being forms of energy would collapse due to the gravitational pull and if the universe goes on expanding forever that still does not give a clue about the existence of god. Perhaps if God exists she does not wish to have a scientific proof for her existence.

NOTE: I do not believe God has a gender but is beyond all words, concepts and definitions as the Tao Te Ching says, “The Tao (ultimate reality) which can be named (put into words) is not the true Tao.” I use she just to bait fundamentalists who imagine god is a stupid white old man like John McCain the alleged war criminal….

The point is that all men, me included no doubt, are fucking sluts who should be spaded. I know my wife would do that to me but she’s so wonderful why the hell would I wish to be with someone else…. Actually take that back. Actually, forget it. This is only about McCain’s thousands of flip-flops. I’ll start with his position on abortion:

Abortion

As the Associated Press reported on August 24, 1999, while on the campaign trail in New Hampshire that year, McCain proclaimed himself a pro-life candidate. However, he told reporters that “I’d love to see a point where Roe vs. Wade is irrelevant, and could be repealed because abortion is no longer necessary. But certainly in the short term, or even the long term, I would not support repeal of Roe vs. Wade, which would then force women in America to [undergo] illegal and dangerous operations.”

When his comments came under fire from pro-life groups, he wrote a letter to the National Right to Life Committee, stating: “I share our common goal of reducing the staggering number of abortions currently performed in this country and overturning the Roe vs. Wade decision.”

In 2000 McWar:

On “Meet the Press,” McCain said he had “come to the conclusion that the exceptions for rape, incest, and the life of the mother are legitimate exceptions” to an outright ban on abortions. “I don’t claim to be a theologian, but I have my moral beliefs.” If Roe v. Wade is overturned and abortion outlawed, McCain said he believes doctors who performed abortions would be prosecuted. “But I would not prosecute a woman” who obtained an abortion.

Again in 2000:

Keyes [to McCain]: What you would say if your daughter was ever in a position where she might need an abortion? You answered [earlier today] that the choice would be up to her and then that you’d have a family conference. That displayed a profound lack of understanding of the basic issue of principle involved in abortion. After all, if your daughter said she was contemplating killing her grandmother for the inheritance, you wouldn’t say, “Let’s have a family conference.” You’d look at her and say “Just Say No,“ because that is morally wrong. It is God’s choice that that child is in the womb. And for us to usurp that choice in contradiction of our declaration of principles is just as wrong.

McCain: I am proud of my pro-life record in public life, and I will continue to maintain it. I will not draw my children into this discussion. As a leader of a pro-life party with a pro-life position, I will persuade young Americans [to] understand the importance of the preservation of the rights of the unborn.

When Republicans in South Dakota passed a ban on almost all abortions, providing an exception only to save the life of the woman, McCain was asked by the National Journal’s The Hotline what he would have done had he been governor of the state. His office replied that McCain “would have signed the legislation, but would also take the appropriate steps under state law – in whatever state – to ensure that the exceptions of rape, incest or life of the mother were included.” He gave no indication what steps he could take to change a law he already signed.

ABC News’ Teddy Davis Reports: Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., told ABC News Saturday that he still wants to change the GOP’s abortion platform to explicitly recognize exceptions for rape, incest, and the life of the mother.

McCain reaffirmed his difference with party doctrine on permissible abortion exceptions after speaking to the Iowa Republican Party’s Lincoln Day Dinner in Des Moines.

McCain focused most of his speech on Iraq but he included a passage at the top of his speech which highlighted his long-standing opposition to federal abortion rights.

“I am pro-life because of my belief in the dignity of human life,” McCain told the GOP dinner.

McCain’s description of himself as being “steadfast” in supporting the “rights of the unborn” for “24 years, without changing” provided an implicit contrast between himself and his top two rivals for the GOP’s presidential nomination. Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani says he personally hates abortion but he has long supported abortion rights. Former Gov. Mitt Romney, R-Mass., switched from supporting abortion rights to opposing them less than two and a half years ago.

Even though McCain has had his own share of conservative apostasies over the years, his camp expects his abortion position to help him against Giuliani and Romney. It is unlikely, however, to assuage the concerns of Republican presidential candidates with less funding who have been more vocal than McCain on the abortion issue over the years.

Sen. Sam Brownback, R-Kan., the Republican presidential candidate with the most visible support at Saturday’s Lincoln Day Dinner among young Iowans for whom abortion is a top concern, took issue with McCain’s continued desire to modify the GOP’s abortion platform.

“We should not change the platform,” Brownback told ABC News. “It should not be changed.”

McCain clashed with then-Gov. George W. Bush on the GOP platform’s lack of exceptions for rape, incest, and the life of the mother during a Feb. 15, 2000 CNN debate moderated by Larry King.

My question is: How come the spam catcher does not catch these?

I love books. I buy a huge lot and I borrow many from the libraries. I take books with intriguing titles and skim them. I hope I live until I’m at least one hundred and fifty because even then I’ll not have enough time to read all my books….

Recently I got a book called, “Beyond Opinion” which has on its back cover a definitive masterwork from the world’s leading Christian Apologist. I’ll be honest one religion which makes zero sense to me is Christianity but perhaps that’s my problem and my stupidity. I have read many works of Christian apologists like C.S. Lewis and none of their writing makes much sense to me. They all seem to preach to the converted but have nothing in them to even interest an honest seeker.

Anyway, I do not want to write about what the book has about my religion since I did nor recognize it as my Islam the way I practice and I was taught and even the way the theocracy in Iran (my native country) runs it. It may be true about the Saudis, Pakistanis, Taliban and other extremist Suni (friends of George Bush the American Taliban extremist) countries but I did recognize it as the Islam I know and love.

I wish to criticize the section on Atheism because it purports to talk about logic. Here is a section of the book:

Atheist: There is not God!
Christian: Are you sure about that? Can you prove that?

And the book goes on complaining that the atheist cannot prove that God exists. I wish to logically come to the defense of the atheist in question:

Atheist: Do you believe unicorns exist?
Christian: Don't be stupid of course unicorns do not exist.
Atheist: Can you prove that?

And the rest of the argument would be the same as the book. The point is that it is impossible to prove the lack of existence of something. We can only talk about the likelihood of the existence of something or that fact that a concept like the Christian god (I use god with small “g” for false gods and God for the only God) is self contradictory.

If I were an atheist (which I suppose we all are for most gods) I would be more satisfied with a stupid answer like Tertulains, “Credo absurdum est.” Which means, “I believe because it is absurd (ridiculous).” At least that is an honest answer but try to logically prove god to a thinking person is pretty stupid sure the Christian apologist my be brilliant to other Christians but looks pretty damned (pun intended) stupid to non-Christians.

By the way there is nothing wrong with being superstitious and stupid in one’s religion. After all we were all brain washed when we were young by our parents but as Dylan said in a song, “I’ll let you be in my dreams if you let me be in yours,” and I’ll let you have your stupid religion (in peace and I’ll even respect your religion and use the term God for your God) if you let me have my stupid religion and let me live in my superstition and not insult my religion. Because to paraphrase Jesus let he without sin (superstition and self-contradiction) throw the first stone….

I wish to end this post on religion and atheism with a quote from my freind Dan Barker who is one of the leaders of the Freedom From Religion Foundation: “We are all atheists to the gods of other religions. So if I ask a Christian, ‘Do you believe in Vishnu?’ he replies, ‘Of course not, we all know Vishnu does not exists,’ and so he’s an atheist to Vishnu, Odin, Zeus, Ahura Mazda and all sorts of gods… I’m only an atheist to one extra god than you and that’s your god.”

OH no I’m not but we do live in a savage country which has death penalty (only savage countries still have them) and there is a legal claim that corporations are virtual human beings with all rights thereof (but non of the responsibilities)….

So lets say that corporations are people how about jailing corporations which break the law and executing those which murder people (three strikes law would stop most pharmaceutical companies for life). Going to jail for a corporation would mean going totally out of business for so many years and death penalty would be dissolution of the offending corporation.

I guess if we did apply the law to corporations most fortune five hundred companies would cease operation most of the time and imagine what would happen to treasonous US corporations which would move their headquarters to Cayman Island or wherever for tax reasons….

Given the current extreme right wing nature of the media and the USA I typically write angry posts. This is about something wonderful that happened to me this morning. I was in the gym getting dressed after exercising and I saw this guy getting dressed. He had a badge and insignia on his shirt. I went closer and noticed that he was a fireman so I went and approached him and thanked him fir the wonderful job he was doing. I said, I don’t think enough people take time to show appreciation to our firemen, teachers, police and other professions we should thank.

He realized from my tone of of voice and demeanor that I was absolutely sincere. He thanked me and said it was nothing and he really enjoyed his job but you should have seen his eyes light up. Just noticing the pleasure my genuine appreciation gave made me so happy too. Being thankful is something that gives back so please tell a policeman, librarian, soldier etc. that you are thankful….

Don’t get me wrong I believe that Bush and Cheney are the worst of war criminals but our brave soldiers are only pawns in the deadly game these murderers play. So, I’m thankful to our armed forces and hope they return home safely and be looked after (a decent GI bill) by a thankful nation. And, I’m proud of me niece who is a sailor. The Massachusetts-based Physicians for Human Rights reached that conclusion after two-day clinical evaluations of 11 former detainees, who had been held at the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq, at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and in Afghanistan.

“We found clear physical and psychological evidence of torture and abuse, often causing lasting suffering,” said Dr. Allen Keller, a medical evaluator for the study.

In a 121-page report, the doctors’ group said that it uncovered medical evidence of torture, including beatings, electric shock, sleep deprivation, sexual humiliation, sodomy and scores of other abuses.

The report is prefaced by retired U.S. Major Gen. Antonio Taguba, who led the Army’s investigation into the Abu Ghraib prisoner abuse scandal in 2003.

The poem is OK you really should spend more time with people you love. However, why would you forward something which could potentially bring bad luck to someone who forgets to forward it.

So if you are reasonable it should have nothing to do with race or gender of the candidates but everything to do with their policies and character.

While wishing women were in charge let me praise my wonderful wife. I know that in spite of my espoused progressive leaning I’m authoritarian at heart (scratch a liberal and you find a fascist under the skin) but I know that whenever my spouse (espoused - spouse - I cannot help myself I love words) is in charge of the major decisions of our life she makes much better decisions that I do. So let the women rule the world and rule the households. The world would be a much better place which is where that joke started with:
