Come out, come out where ever you are
Somewhere between five to twenty percent of all Americans belong to that abused minority which is forced to remain in the closet even in these enlightened time when we elect an African American and can be proud to be Americans on this count but must remain ashamed for the way we treat this minority.
This abused minority has some of our best educated, most intelligent, most generous people and yet we do not give them their civil rights and force them to stay in the closet.
Who are these abused minority?
The American non-theists
The atheists, agnostics, Buddhists, Deists (like the majority of our founding fathers)….
The reason the number of these is not known is that many dare not let the pollsters know about their beliefs and their numbers are discounted.
Imagine only one member of the house has admitted that he is an atheist. If this is true, it explains why the country is in such a mess.
So on this day when so many barriers to civil rights have been broken I look forward to the day that the first openly non-theist President of the country is sworn in.
Also it’s time to remove those unconstitutional words which were added to the pledge of allegiance during McCarthyism, “one Nation under god,” to be removed. I do not mind “in god we trust” on our money since Mammon is the idol that we worship in the USA.
