AIPAC vs Jewish voice for peace

I’m about to send an email to my senators and representative objecting to the one sided AIPAC (American Israel Political Action Committee) resolution which well this is what AIPAC says about it – my comments in bold:

I write to thank you for supporting S. Res. 10, an important bipartisan resolution supporting Israel’s quest for peace and its right to defend itself against Hamas rocket attacks from Gaza.  OK if Israel wants peace all they have to do is to stop occupying Palestinian lands and imprisoning the Palestinians in Gaza.

The bipartisan resolution, introduced by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), sends a strong message of U.S. support for Israel (so what else is new – the whole problem arises from the totally one sided support for Israeli aggression) as it takes action to defend its citizens from Hamas’ indiscriminate rocket and mortar fire.

Since Israel’s 2005 withdrawal from Gaza — an effort intended to reduce violence and lay the groundwork for a future Palestinian state — Hamas has indiscriminately fired more than 6,300 rockets and mortars at Israeli population centers.  Israel formed a ghetto in Gaza and imprisoned the Gazans  by not allowing them free access to commerce, food, medicines – reminds me of the Nazis and the Warsaw ghetto and that too caused an uprising.

And here’s the email you can send from Jewish Voice for Peace:

I urge you to call for U.S. leadership in establishing an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and southern Israel by all sides, including lifting the blockade on Gaza, which is also an act of war.

Please oppose the lopsided resolution being promoted by AIPAC, which rightly condemns Hamas for targeting civilians, but does not hold Israel accountable for the blockade, violations of the ceasefire, the deaths of numerous civilians, or the 40-year occupation of Palestinian lands. Further, the resolution does not call for an immediate ceasefire and does not call for lifting the blockade.

Please do the right thing and vote no. This resolution is outrageously unbalanced and will only help to increase the violence in the region, further endangering Israelis, Palestinians and even Americans.

The above is much more neutral and would help peace rather than the extreme right wing greater Isreal first (before the interests of the USA) AIPAC war mongering resolution which is ultimately wrong for Palestine, wrong for Israel, wrong for the USA and wrong for every human being on Erath.
