Tom Delay’s real world

I am unfortunate enough to watch Tom Delay being interviewed on CNN. He claims that people are jobless because they don’t want jobs. He said basically that people wait until their unemployment runs out before getting another job.

What planet is he living on and what is he smoking. I’m working an eight dollar an hour job (selling cars) with more than twelve years of university education. I see the real world where so many job applicants come for a single job and people are terrified to lose this lousy soul killing job.

Each day I spend a few minutes looking at every new job posted on various job sites and when I see nothing useful I feel lucky that I have some kind of job. As I mentioned yesterday we live in a third world country with a ginormous divide between the super rich and the rest of us.

People like Tom Delay enable our task masters to rule us like sheep to the slaughter of globalization and loss of jobs.

First they took away the unskilled manufacturing jobs and I did nothing after all I did not have an unskilled manufacturing job…
You know the way the story goes: (then came the skilled manufacturing, and now white color jobs)…
And now I’m hopeless (I mean without hope – at least I would be if I relied on others to look after me) at sixty three with no decent job prospects…

Third world USA

I have not been writing on this blog for a long time as I wanted to not write any angry posts. I’m now ready to write just commentary.

For the last twenty years I have been saying that this country (the USA) is becoming a third world country. I admit it, I am now proved wrong. We are no longer becoming a third world country. We are now a third world nation of the few haves and majority have nots.

We have some of the best private educational establishments in the world and our general educational levels are as low as any other.

In 1965 the average CEO of a fortune five hundred corporation earned about thirty to fifty times the average salary of the employees of the corporation. Now that figure is between five hunbdred to five thousand.

The traitors who lost the US tax payers trillions and trillions of dollars payed themselves billions of bonuses for failing. Bribery is legal in this banana republic. It is called lobbying and now the conservative activist judges in the supreme court allow unlimited expenditure by the robber barons of the conglomerates in electioneering in the name of free speech.

OK here it is:

Corporations are not human beings.

In this third world corporatocracy (rule by corporate interests) and kleptocracy (rule by thieves) the super rich get more power and privileges every day and we get screwed.

Force filibuster to be filibuster

I thought filibuster was where some Senator talks non-stop to stop voting. So force it. Force the senators who want to filibuster to talk and talk and talk until they have to go to bed or they wet their pants or whatever.

Before the elections I said that moderate Democrat Obama was -500 as opposed to Clinton -50,000, McCain -5,000,000 and Bush -5,000,000,000 but I was wrong. Right wing Obama has acted from the wrong side of history and acted with the fat cat super rich against us the people. He is -500,000 and as far as foreign policy is concerned Bush III with torture, extraordinary rendition and so on continuing.

Sure that’s way better than Bush or McCain but is that good enough?

Look at me – I suck – but I’m not Bush.

Obama, “I’m not Bush,” is that the best we can do – to get a reasonable Republican and even then he’s called a Marxist by the extreme right. I’m a Marxist. I love Groucho as well as Karl- (you need to have a great sense of humor to call yourself a Marxist in today’s world especially in today’s USA where Richard Nixon would be too much of a liberal.

Kill the Liberman Bill

The anti-health care bill has become so disgustingly pro-big pharma, health insurance death panel (yes they exist and the murderous insurance companies and their flag bearers like Liberman are part of the death industry)…

That’s death for greedmurder for profit.

Switzerland and Belgium (I believe the latter) use private insurance companies but regulated as public companies for the good of the public – not socialism (not that there’s anything wrong with the public option) why don’t we do the same for the armed forces as we do for health care.

I as someone who is not scared and is a pacifist would pay no company for offense and wars and Imperial bases overseas and warmongers could pay whatever they want for the ministry of war which is what the so called DOD (department of defense) does.

But non of right wingbats (including Obama – not progressive but extreme right wing Democrat) are ready to get rid of this disgraceful socialism (their words not mine) of the armed forces.

And yet all we want is universal affordable health care and we don’t care how they do it.

If the Democratic party drops dead in front of that neo-Nazi Liberman then it’s time for progressives to drop out of the party.

The sound of no hand clapping

There is a Zen Koan which talks about the sound of a single hand clapping – there is a case of American media’s treason which is like truth being the sound of no hand clapping and I’m not talking about the anti-news all lies, all the time FOX news (so called because it F*cks the news) but about CNN USA which is supposed to be neutral but shows it saying on the one hand some people say X and on the other hand others say Y as though just because someone may say, “The cow jumped over the moon,” makes it as valid as the person who says, “The cow cannot jump over the moon.”

I’m being very spiritual and thus not writing much on this web site. It is very difficult to write out of protest and anger with the disgusting state of American political system (a banana republic where bribery is legal – just called campaign contribution, lobbying, freedom of speech for corporations) and yet remain spiritual.

However, this morning I was stupid enough to watch CNN and the person (I’m doing my best to be kind – I was thinking total idiot but that does not go too well with being spiritual) on the boob tube (that’s being too kind when talking about the mass media – with all blonds all the time – Tiger, OJ, the blond in Italy and so on – who give a f*** – obviously the stupid ignorant American masses of lumpenproletariats care a lot).

So the guy on CNN said the equivalent of some people believe the universe is only six thousand years old as though that makes their non-thinking as valid as scientific evidence.

Anyway, anger aside, the point is that being neutral does not mean reporting any and everything without a comment. There is a great difference a reasoned discussion between sensible people and just reporting no-sense as though it was sensible.

Principles first – implementation later

Principles first:

If only we could agree: Health care it’s a matter of human rights.

If only we could agree: No Civilized nation which could afford it would deny universal health care to all its citizens.

If only we could agree: What Jesus, Moses, Mohammad, The Buddha, and other religious leaders would say about people in the USA dying because they lack health insurance. A single person would be bad – a person every twelve minutes is the extreme of evil carelessness (not caring for our brothers and sisters).

Implementation later:

Every civilized advanced industrial country has universal health care. Some do it through government insurance (like Britain with its wonderful NHS – National Health Service – don’t laugh I lived there – we pay about nine thousand dollars a year for our catastrophic health insurance here but given our ten thousand dollar deductible dare not get all the test we need and we are middle class).

Others do it through private insurance companies with choice but the government pays the premiums for all and decides the rules for minimum coverage (France, Germany, Japan do it that way I believe).

So once we agree that health insurance is a basic human right there are many, many ways of getting to that goal of one day joining the ranks of civilized countries.

Lose your job get bad credit – can’t get a job

After being jobless for nine month a friend was so pleased that she had won an interview. All that was left was for her references to work out and she’d have the job.

What she did not count on is that the corporation (read stupid bureaucracy) checked her credit rating. Now I don’t know about you, but most people who have not been working for nine months end up with worse credit rating.

So the stupid corporate bureaucracy rejected a good candidate because she had been unemployed. This is bad for the corporation to lose the best candidate because she had lost her job.

***

How about restoring some sanity to corporations by having them be responsible.

Corporations are not human beings and deserve absolutely no human rights like freedom of speech and so on.

Where’s my twenty hour work week?

In the sixties futurists were predicting that by the year two thousand our average work week would be down to around twenty hours and by twenty ten it would be down to about fifteen hours a week.

What went wrong?

How come these brilliant people were so wrong?

They did not calculate the sheer greed of the super rich. They imagined that the huge productivity increase would be shared equally between all Americans.

However, the futurists were not wrong in predicting the huge productivity increase. The cake has become much much larger. The proportion of the cake getting to the rest of us (all other than the top one percent) has diminished. So we (those of us lucky enough to have jobs) work fifty sixty hours a week getting paid for forty as we are lucky enough to be exempt.

In the meanwhile we are brain washed to consume more and more so that we owe more to the usurious banks who are getting money from the government at less than a quarter percent and lending it at more than eighteen to credit card holders.

Where are our religious leaders to talk about greed and usury?

Where are our business schools in teaching a little ethics?

Where are our political leaders – ok we know, they are giving money to the crooked super rich. They are supporting welfare capitalism where loss is socialized and shared by the rest of us and gain goes to the super greedy.

***

Think about it: If the huge increase in productivity and hence wealth since the sixties had been shared equally there would be enough jobs for everyone (working those promised twent hour work weeks). We would not be in a recession (or is it depression in reality as far as jobs are concerned).

Think about it if most of the wealth of the world was not wasted in wars, stealing money from the rest of us (using the stock market as a rigged casino), making unneeded expensive drugs, unsafe cars and so on….

Think about it if the wealth of the Earth (mostly human ingenuity) was not wasted, we could have heaven on Earth in a very short time.

More, much more to follow….

Learn to think for yourself

A friend with a Ph.D. was talking about the recent NASA experiment to find water on the moon. She was complaining about the cost of this wonderful scientific experiment which will advance moobn science at least as much as the Apollo moon (propaganda) landings. Unfortunately most of us (citizens of the USA) understand next to nothing about science and even less about critical thinking.

I’m not talking about the ill educated like George Bush, the non-educated degreed person like Sarah Palin or the non-educated like Joe the non-plumber. I’m talking about well educated liberals (or conservatives) like my friend. No matter how much you know about your particular field you need to understand a little science. You need to know how to think critically. You need to be able to think for yourself.

If you cannot think critically….

If you cannot think for yourself….

You will be at the mercy of FOX news and other mass media owned by the conglomerates. Understand that these people are not on the side of truth. If you do not understand the methodology and the philosophy of science and clear thinking you end up believing the the universe was created less than ten thousand years ago by a cruel old man who hates your guts.

You end up imagining that you can get aids from donating blood or touching an HIV positive person. You end up imagining that global warming is not real. You end up thinking that scientist know nothing and know nothings like Rush Limburger (he stinks more than the cheese), Sarah Palin, Hoe the Plumber know everything.

You end up believing that the word elite (meaning the cream of the crop, well educated, the best a society has to offer) is a negative word.

Tell me:

If you were to chose a team to go to the Olympics would you select cripples with broken limbs or would you select the elite athletes?

Think about that.

Think….

Really think….

So why would you listen to the mentally crippled like Rush, O’Riley, Joe, Sarah and so on.

I have no problem even if you end up with the wrong conclusion so long as you

Think For Yourself!

Bush III or peace maker

There are those of us (progressives) who are exceptionally disappointed with President Barack Obama. We are disappointed that:

  • Guantanamo still exists.
  • No torturers or war criminals have been prosecuted.
  • Some kind of renditions still continue.
  • Washington Middle East policy is still ruled by traitors who care more about the extreme right wing faction of Israeli expansionism (neo-cons, AIPAC and other American Likhudnics).
  • We are still supporting Islamic dictatorships such as the extreme Wahhabi Saudi monarchy (where women cannot even drive) and the police state of Egypt.
  • We are still lying about Iran and talking about bombing it or helping Israel to bomb Iran.
  • We still have the largest military in the history of humanity – we spend – waste – total waste when we are broke – more money on aggression than the rest of the world. At last we managed to not build the F22 which was designed for a different world (the cold war against the USSR) and could not work in the rainĀ  – gee don’t start the war in bad weather.
  • We still have troupes in Germany, Japan and all over the world – sure we may need a few troupes in South Korea but Germany, Japan, England and so on.

On the good side:

Obama is not Bush.

Hisham Qasim, an Egyptian democracy and human rights activist, said he was “shocked” Obama won.

He has achieved nothing. He’s stumbling. He hasn’t achieved any of his promises and nothing is working. He promised to close Guantanamo and now that’s not going to happen, and the Arab-Israeli conflict looks like it’s going to get very nasty.”

The Norwegian Nobel Committee said it gave the prize to Obama for his “efforts to strengthen international diplomacy,” his “vision of and work for a world without nuclear weapons” and for inspiring hope and creating “a new climate in international politics.

So why did the Norwegian Nobel Committee really give Obama the peace prize?

In Persian we have a construction of “putting a water melon under someone’s arm.” It means saying something (untrue) about someone to make them act better. For example a young boy is being naughty and you say, “Oh you are such a good boy,” and that forces the bad boy to become good.

So let’s hope and pray that Obama deserves this great honor with his future actions.

***

The only thing that worries me is that a talking head on FOX news agrees with me that he got it for not being Bush.
